- Front windows: 35% VLT
- Rear windows (passenger vehicles): 20% VLT
- Rear windows (utes/commercial vehicles): No VLT limit, as long as side mirrors are fitted
- Windscreen: Tint allowed only on the top 10%
Commercial vehicles like utes and vans can have darker rear tint for privacy and cargo protection.
Windscreen strip is a 5% band of film across the top of the windscreen which we custom fit to help cut down on glare. Additional costs apply.
All work is to be completed in our clean, controlled workshop to ensure the tidiest possible finish.

What is privacy glass?
Privacy glass is dyed, darkened glass installed by the vehicle manufacturer, mainly on rear windows. It looks similar to tint but doesn’t offer the same UV or heat protection as aftermarket window film.
Can tint be added over privacy glass?
Yes—we do this often. It gives you better UV and heat protection and a more uniform look across the vehicle.
What causes tint to bubble?
Window tint can bubble over time due to a few factors. Lower quality films, prolonged sun exposure, and poor installation conditions can all contribute to bubbles forming. It's important to note that every film has a finite lifespan with consistent UV exposure. At Rod's Total Tint, we use high-performance automotive films with a lifetime warranty, and we install them in a controlled environment, minimising the risk of bubbling while ensuring lasting quality.
How long until I can put my windows down after tinting?
We recommend waiting at least 48 hours before rolling your windows down. This gives the adhesive time to fully cure.
How do I clean my window tint?
To keep your tint looking great and lasting longer:
- Use a soft cloth or microfiber towel
- Clean with mild, ammonia-free glass polish
- Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive scrubbers, or ammonia-based cleaners (like standard glass cleaner) — these can damage the film.
Do you tint cars on site?
No, all of our work is completed in the clean, controlled environment of our workshop to ensure the best possible finish for your vehicle.
How long does it take to tint my car?
Most full car tints take between 1.5 to 3 hours
